Functional Training at Pilates on Fifth
Joseph Pilates may have created the method that bears his name, but he was an extremely well-rounded athlete.
He was a gymnast, a boxer and a weight lifter, and, most importantly, was an avid life-long mover!
Pilates on Fifth continues Mr. Pilates' total embrace of all movement disciplines by incorporating Pilates-inspired and Pilates-amplified modalities for a total body transformation.
What is Functional Training?
Functional training involves exercises that train the body for activities in daily life.
Pilates, of course is functional training as it involves mainly weight bearing activities targeted at core muscles of the abdomen and lower back.
But, in addition to core strength, we need some or even all of the following qualities to maintain active, injury free lives:

Each piece of equipment at Pilates on Fifth has been chosen for a specific functional purpose. In addition to core strength, each piece brings a unique attribute to enhance the workouts of our clients.
