Identical twins and former Radio City Rockettes Katherine and Kimberly Corp opened Pilates on Fifth in New York City with the dream of helping current and former Rockettes stay fit and fabulous! Rockettes, like all dancers, are athletes in their own right and need the proper balance of strength and flexibility training to succeed on the stage.

Because the Radio City Music Hall stage is made of steel, current and former Rockettes must be sure to strengthen the smaller muscles that stabilize the ankles, knees and hips against this impact of the high heels on steel. Rockettes dancing on steel is like a runner running on concrete or pavement….downhill! Years of impact such as this can wreak havoc on Rockettes’ lower backs, hips and knees. Pilates and GYROTONIC® exercises offer a conditioning system that can help restore muscle imbalances and give Rockettes – and anyone – the balanced, aligned and fit body they desire.

Current Radio City Music Hall Rockettes need a conditioning regime that keeps their body in perfect working order to execute up to 5 shows a day flawlessly. Former Rockettes – or Rockettes in the off-season – require a strength and flexibility program that restores muscle imbalances, re-aligns knees and hips and strengthens the core to protect the lower back. Pilates targets the inner muscles of the spine and the joints that stabilize the joint and help protect from injury. Many former Rockettes report that Pilates provides the best workout they could do to condition their joints following a career on the New York City Radio City Music Hall stage. Current Rockettes find that Pilates keeps their core and their lower backs strong enough to shine and perform their best during the rigorous performing schedule.

With GYROTONIC® exercises, many current and former Rockettes find their spines and hip joints able to experience a greater range of motion in the circular, spiraling motions that GYROTONIC® exercises provide. Because of the sharp, precision dance required by Radio City Rockettes, the muscle can become tight. GYROTONIC® exercises allow for safe exploration of a greater range of motion with both the spine and the joints so that the joint is strengthened and flexibility is increased. For both current and former Rockettes, GYROTONIC® exercises are a great complement to an existing Pilates or exercise regime or a great stand-alone exercise system.

From Port Authority/Times Square:

  • Walk East on 42nd Street to 5th Avenue OR
  • 7 train from Times Square to 5 Ave/42nd St (Bryant Park)
  • Standing on the SW corner of 5th/42nd (library on your right) we are diagonally to your right across the street.

From Grand Central Terminal:

  • Exit the South side of Grand Central
  • Walk West on 42nd Street to 5th Avenue
  • Turn left onto 5th Avenue OR
  • 7 train from Grand Central to 5 Ave/42nd St (Bryant Park)

From Bryant Park (7 train stop):

  • If you exit at 6th Ave/42nd St walk east to 5th Ave
  • If you exit at 5th Ave/42nd St, turn right out of the subway exit and you?ll be at the SW corner of 5th Ave/42nd St

Power Privates (solo workouts)

Enjoy the following pricing options. Off-peak hours* only for equipment and cardio usage. Mat classes may be taken at any time.

$245 for non-dancers and $220.50 for dancers (includes unlimited solo workouts, cardio and mat classes)

Solo Workouts:
  • 1 session: $24.30 (this is a 10% discount off the Mind Body Gymnasium page rate)

Appointments may be scheduled on the hour throughout the day with the last appointment ending at the time we close. We take appointments on the quarter hour after 5PM Monday through Thursday.

We do take instructor requests although we cannot guarantee you will be with the same instructor each time. To ensure that you get the same high quality work out each time, our instructors keep detailed records of each client in the client's file.
