At Pilates on Fifth, we absolutely love our senior clients. Seniors have so much to gain from Pilates, and, as instructors, we love seeing how consistent Pilates training can transform their lives. Our mission is to help our clients achieve their "real world" goals through Pilates mat classes, equipment privates, and CARDIOLATES® classes. Our instructors really listen to each client, in order to help that client achieve his or her personal goals.
Everyone has unique limitations and unique goals, and seniors are no exception. One client may want Pilates to help him with his golf swing. Another may want Pilates to help her lift her grandchildren or her bags of groceries without lower back pain. A third may want Pilates or CARDIOLATES® to help her slim down and tone up for her daughter's wedding. A fourth may want to get in shape so that he can hike down the Grand Canyon on his next vacation.
We love hearing your goals, and we love helping you achieve them. We think Pilates is an ideal exercise for seniors, for a number of reasons. First, Pilates doesn't put strain on your body. It's challenging yet safe. How many times have you begun an exercise regimen, only to quit a month later because it put so much strain on your knees or back or shins? Pilates is different; you can do Pilates five days a week and never feel the slightest ache in your joints.
Next, Pilates is great for spine health and posture. Most of us tend to stoop as we grow older. Most seniors are at least partially hunched over, and it's not uncommon for seniors to literally shrink in height. Pilates is the best possible form of exercise for those who want to stand taller and straighter and feel less back pain.
