Manhattan Pilates Studios

At Pilates on Fifth, we're serious about Pilates. Although Pilates was actually created during the early years of the 20th century for the physical rehabilitation of injured people (and injured dancers, in particular), Pilates has become a bit of a fad in recent years. This system is nearly 100 years old, but you wouldn't guess it from the sudden popularity Pilates has enjoyed so recently.

At Pilates on Fifth, our devotion to this system runs deep. So many Manhattan Pilates studios that have opened up recently are simply capitalizing on this latest trend in healthcare. The folks who run these studios would be just as happy teaching step aerobics or spin classes. Pilates on Fifth, on the other hand, is run by Pilates experts. Our interest in this discipline is much more than a passing fancy.

Owners Katherine and Kimberly Corp started the studio in August, 2000. They have been certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainers since 2001. The twins studied Pilates for many years before opening their own studio, as a way to keep themselves injury-free during their time as Radio City Rockettes and professional dancers.

Later, Katherine and Kimberly became Cancer Exercise Specialists. They co-founded The Pink Ribbon Program, Inc., helping breast cancer survivors to enjoy the benefits of Pilates-based workouts. Always eager to learn more about exercise, anatomy, and biomechanics, the Corp sisters have both been accepted into Columbia University's prestigious Applied Physiology program. Plus, they were the featured cover story in the August, 2005 issue of Club Business International, the International Health and Racquet Sports Association's industry magazine. Currently, they are investing their time and energy into marketing their new program, CARDIOLATES®, both nationally and internationally Their staff of more than 30 instructors also offer remarkable knowledge, experience and skill. Every instructor who works at Pilates on Fifth is fully certified and extremely knowledgeable in the fields of anatomy and biomechanics.
